Cost-share signup under way

MONROE - The Green County Land and Water Conservation Department is accepting applications for soil conservation and water quality practices for the 2010 construction season.

Practices approved by Land and Water Conservation are paid on a 70 percent cost-share per practice basis. The exception to this rule is for nutrient management. This practice is paid on a flat rate of $28 per acre. The signup will be until Dec. 31.

A few examples of practices that are offered are well decommissioning, grassed waterways, manure storage, barnyard runoff control systems, stream bank improvement, cattle and equipment crossings, roof gutters and diversions.
