WOODFORD - Steven B. Long, 62, of Woodford, WI passed away on November 8, 2011 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Madison, WI following a short illness. Steven was born on August 22, 1949 in Freeport, IL the son of Glen L. and Joyce M. (Pash) Long. He attended the Warren High School and then entered into the United States Army serving his country during the Vietnam War. He married Shirley M. Stietz in Oregon, IL on February 25, 1973. He was employed by Kelly Springfield in Freeport and later Merkle-Kroff in Darlington, WI. He also worked for many years as a truck driver for Babler Trucking. In later years he was employed by the Donald Frei Farms in Argyle, WI as a farm hand until his retirement. Steven was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan, he enjoyed fishing and playing cards. He was a member of the VFW in Gratiot and later Shullsburg, WI.

Survivors include Shirley of Woodford, WI, 2 sons Christopher Long of Woodford, WI, Matt Long and Chasity Olson of Monroe, WI, 1 granddaughter; Charlie Rae Long of Monroe, WI, 4 sisters and 1 brother; Janet (Dale) Schultz of Fort Meyers, FL, Glenda (John) Heimann of Juda, WI, Judy (Gordon) Grunder of Monroe, WI, Richard Long of Warren, IL, Jeri (Derek) Bender of Cedarville, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother; John Long and one nephew; Aaron Gutzmer.

Services will be held on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 12:00 noon at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 until time of service at 12:00 noon on Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Warren, Illinois.

A memorial has been established in his name.
