Rueben H. Goecks, age 90 of Juda, died Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at U.W. Hospital in Madison.
Rueben was born July 29, 1919 in Jefferson Township, Wisconsin, the son of Julius H. and Anna (Jordan) Goecks.
He attended Pleasant Grove Rural School and was a dedicated and life-long farmer. He farmed in Spring Grove Township for many years until retiring in 1999. Rueben and Florence (Hartwick) Jordan were married on January 19, 1965 in Lake Mills, WI. She preceded him in death on Dec. 29, 2001.
Rueben ( known as the egg man) and his wife Florence sold eggs to the Juda community and area businesses for many years.
He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Juda and loved to bake his special homemade cookies.
He is survived by a step-son, Ed (Vivian) Jordan of Hattiesburg, MS; a step-daughter-in-law, Pat Jordan of Juda; close family friend and former step-daughter-in-law, Betty Jordan of Janesville; 7 step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-great-grandsons; three brothers, Marvin, Julius, and Carl Goecks; and a half-brother, Donald Goecks, all of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Florence; a step-son, Jerry Jordan; four brothers, Arthur, Willis, Ervin, and Harold Goecks; and a sister, Caroline Goecks.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2009, at the Zion United Methodist Church, Juda, with Rev. Thomas Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Juda. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Rueben's name to Zion United Methodist Church.
The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
We will miss the Juda stories Rueben always shared along with his memories of farming and his love for horses. Rueben was very proud of his family.
