Romaine S. Koenig Meier, 63, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, began her eternal life August 18, 2008 surrounded by her family at her home.

She was born March 14, 1945 in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin, the daughter of Orland and Emma (Yaeger) Koenig. She has two younger brothers, Orland and Wayne. She attended Apple Orchard Elementary and Gillett High School in Gillett, Wisconsin. After high school she moved to Madison. She met Gerald and they were married August 24, 1968. They lived in Waterloo for 13 years and then moved to Monroe for 26 years. Following retirement they moved to Fort Atkinson to be closer to the grandchildren. She enjoyed being active in church, bowling, working in the garden and tending her flowers, playing cards, baking cookies for the holidays, sending cards for birthdays and anniversaries and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald of 40 years; her children, Mary Lynn Vaillancourt (Shannon) of Fort Atkinson, Michelle Andrews (Paul) of Madison and Roberta Meier of Fort Atkinson. She is further survived by her parents, Orland and Emma Koenig of Cecil and brothers, Orland (Betty) of De Pere and Wayne of Cecil; and two grandchildren, Tyler and Derek Vaillancourt.

Visitation will be at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe on Friday, August 22, 2008 from 4 to 7 p.m., with a memorial service following. Another memorial service will be held at the Shrine of the Good Shephard Chapel in Green Bay at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2008.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601-7633 in honor of her father, Orland.

The family would like to thank the Paul Carbonne Cancer Center, especially Dr. Mulkerin and the chemo nurses, Rainbow Hospice of Jefferson and all of her friends for their love and support.
