Robert E. Friedli, age 75 of Monroe, a long time resident of Clarno Township, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. He was born August 7, 1932 in Monroe, the son of Edwin O. and Rose (Walters) Friedli. Robert farmed with his brothers on the Friedli home farm all his life. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 until 1957, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed collecting antiques.
Survivors include a brother, Edgar W. Friedli, a resident of Pleasant View Nursing Home; four sisters, Rosabel "Rosie" Babler of Monroe, Lorraine (Jerome) Tollakson of Argyle, Mary Ames of Loves Park, IL, and Barbara (James) Kirkland of Dunedin, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty Scheider; two brothers, Raymond and Tony Friedli; brothers-in-law, Richard Ames and Robert Babler; a niece, Laura Ames; and a great niece, Corina Voegeli-Burton.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 21, 2008, at 11:30 a.m., at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe. Reverend William "Mike" Heath of St. John's United Church of Christ, Monroe, will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be given in Robert's name to the charity of one's choice.
