Green County Sheriff
MONROE - On Feb. 14:
A burglary was reported at 12:05 p.m. at a residence in the W5500 block of Rolling Acres Road, Town of Monroe. The homeowner reported arriving home and discovering that a handgun had been stolen. However, the homeowner later found the handgun in the home. It had just been misplaced, not stolen. There was no evidence of a burglary occurring.
Glen L. Armstrong, 52, Savannah, Illinois, was stopped for driving without required lights activated during inclement weather at 5:07 p.m. in the W2700 block of Wis. 11 in the Town of Jefferson. Armstrong was arrested for a warrant issued from the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department for failure to appear on charges for disorderly conduct and resisting/obstructing. Glen was taken to the Green County Jail pending transport to the Wood County Jail.
Vandalism was reported at 7:06 p.m. by a driver in the N800 block of Wisconsin 69, Town of Clarno. A 37-year-old Freeport woman told deputies when she went to pass the vehicle in front of her, her front passenger window shattered. She suspected that the driver of the vehicle she passed, a red Ford truck with a ladder rack with two ladders on it, threw something at her. The truck then turned and left the scene. She did not have a description of the driver. An investigating deputy found shattered glass and a 3/16 drill bit at the scene. The case is pending further information.
Brendan E. Brysch, 32, Freeport, Illinois, was arrested for operating while under the influence of alcohol (1st offense) at 6 p.m. Feb. 16 in the N5500 block of Wis. 69 in Monroe. Brysch was also cited for non-registration of auto, operating left of center, no proof of insurance and possession of open intoxicants in a motor vehicle. Brysch was released to a responsible party pending court.
New Glarus Police
NEW GLARUS - On Feb. 11:
Vandalism was reported at 4:15 p.m. in the 1800 block of 2nd Street. A car's rear passenger window was damaged. The investigation continues.
Police assisted a citizen with getting property for her child at an ex-husband's residence at 9:10 p.m. in the 400 block of 6th Avenue.
On Feb. 13:
Police issued two alternate side parking citations.
A traffic complaint was reported at 1:41 p.m. on Wis. 69. The complaint reported a semi-truck following too closely on Wis. 69. The truck was stopped, and the driver was warned for following too closely.
Sean P. Mattmann, 18, New Glarus, was cited for a seatbelt violation at 3:36 p.m. on 11th Avenue at Wis. 69.
Tylor R. Heiligenthal, 25, Monticello, was cited for non-registration of a vehicle at 4:59 p.m. on Wis. 69 at 11th Avenue.
Suspicious activity was reported at 6:29 p.m. on Valle Tell Drive. Officers checked the area and everything was found to be okay.
Police responded at 7:29 p.m. to the 1400 block of 2nd Street to assist a citizen locked out of their home. Entry was gained without damage.
