Albany Police

ALBANY - Stanley Lyle Schmid, 59, Albany, was arrested Saturday, Aug. 10, on a charge of felony bail jumping. His signature bond was set in Green County Circuit Court at $2,000 on Monday, Aug. 12, with the conditions that he not drink or go into bars or liquor stores. He has a status conference Aug. 26.

- Travis J. Cook, 39, Albany, was arrested Sunday, Aug. 11, on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense), driving with a prohibited blood-alcohol concentration and operating left of center.

- Brian T. Benash, 55, Footville, was cited Thursday, Aug. 8, for outside consumption of alcohol.

- William Brooks, 26, Long Beach, Calif., was cited Saturday, Aug. 10, for outside consumption of alcohol.

- Austin B. Brose, 28, Brodhead, was cited Saturday, Aug. 10, for disorderly conduct.



Darlington Police

DARLINGTON - Thomas Nyffenegger, 31, Darlington, was arrested on the Cheese Country Recreation Trail at 1:19 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, on charges of disorderly conduct, operating a UTV while intoxicated and refusing to take an evidentiary test for intoxication.

- Talerino Trujillo-Vega, 21, Darlington, was cited for disorderly conduct at about 9:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, following an incident at a business in the 300 block of Main Street.

- Adrian Garcia-Hernandez, 23, Darlington, was cited for disorderly conduct at about 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, as a result of an investigation of an altercation that occurred on the street on Main Street at about 9:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9.



Monroe Police

MONROE - Lashawn N. Adams, 18, Monroe, was cited for possessing drug paraphernalia (a smoking device for marijuana), driving with a suspended license and not having his vehicle taillights lit after police conducted a traffic stop on him in the 1600 block of 9th Street at 12:49 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8.

- Hannah Diederich, 19, Monroe, was cited for retail theft from Walmart at 8:13 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9. She allegedly shoplifted various merchandise with a combined value of $46.

On Wednesday, Aug. 7:

- A boyfriend and girlfriend were reported by a neighbor at 9:15 a.m. for arguing in the 300 block of 4th Street. It was just an argument. No one was cited or arrested.

- A set of keys was found in the road at 13th Street and 20th Avenue and brought at 9:23 a.m. to the police station.

- A dispute over a vehicle was reported at 11:35 a.m. in the 300 block of 3rd Street. The complainant told police she loaned her vehicle to a friend and now she needed it back, but the friend was refusing to give it back. The friend had paid for gas and wanted to drive it until the fuel level was where it had been when the vehicle was received on loan. Police advised the woman this is a civil dispute and not a criminal matter.

- Staff at a bank in the 400 block of West 8th Street reported at 2:23 p.m. that customers who are delinquent on a loan have been calling with general threats against them. The staff wanted the incident documented.

- At 5:30 p.m., car ramps used to hoist a vehicle up during repairs were reported stolen sometime overnight from a parking space in an apartment complex lot.

- Campers at the fairgrounds reported finding a small dog at 5:38 p.m. The dog was taken to the Green County Humane Society.

- A stray and flea-bitten gray cat was reported at 7:42 p.m. in the area of the 1500 block of Parkview Drive. It was deemed unfriendly and feral, and therefore not acceptable to the Humane Society.

- At 8:32 p.m., police responded to a resident who live-trapped a cat in the 800 block of 14th Avenue. The cat is apparently feral, and police asked the resident to release it in the same area it was found. The cat frantically ran away once released.

- A civil dispute over used furniture was reported at 9:41 p.m. in the 300 block of 2nd Street.

- An anonymous caller at 10:36 p.m. reported that children in the 2100 block of 15th Avenue were burning wood in a firepit without a lid. Police asked the parents to supervise them better.

On Thursday, Aug. 8:

- An anonymous caller at 11:19 a.m. complained of long grass and weeds outside a residence in the 1600 6th Street. The owner was mailed a warning notice.

- An anonymous caller at 11:48 a.m. complained of an unmowed lawn in the 1100 block of 11th Street. The owner was mailed a warning notice.

- A traffic citation for squealing tires was issued at 12:21 p.m. in the 800 block of 6th Street.

- The theft of a laptop out of an unlocked vehicle parked in the Walmart lot was reported at 3:14 p.m. Police have leads.

- Junk in a yard, including a bedframe and a dryer, was reported at 4:37 p.m. in the 1900 block of Roosevelt Road.

- Police responded to a noise complaint at 6:49 p.m. at apartments in the 1000 block of 4th Avenue West. The offenders were warned to turn it down.

- Overcooked chicken on a grill sparked a minor fire reported by a 911 caller at 7:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of 10th Avenue. No firefighters were called to the scene.

- A 16-year-old girl was reported at 10:48 p.m. for being disruptive in Recreation Park. She was gone by the time police arrived.

On Friday, Aug. 9:

- A key was found downtown and turned over to police at 11:12 a.m.

- Children playing with an old cellphone in the 1000 block of 27th Street accidentally called 911 call at 2:38 p.m. Police advised the parents to take out the cellphone's batteries before letting children play with it.

- The theft of a boy's bicycle from the area of the city pool in Recreation Park was reported at 2:53 p.m.

- Keys were found in the area of 20th Avenue and 9th Street and turned over to police at 3:52 p.m.

- A dispute over harassing text messages between two female ex-roommates was reported at 3:58 p.m. in the 800 block of 22nd Avenue. They were told to stop texting each other.

- Young boys were warned not to play pranks after a resident in the 1300 block of 16th Street complained at 6:06 p.m. that they were ringing the doorbell and then running.

- A friendly cat was reported found at 9:28 p.m. in the 1500 block of Parkview Drive and turned over the Humane Society.

- A 49-year-old man was taken to a detox facility in Madison after police responded to a complaint at 9:44 p.m. that he was causing a disturbance outside a residence in the 1000 block of 19th Avenue. He was incapacitated by alcohol and had been kicked out of the home.

- A group of girls causing a disturbance in East School Park was reported at 10:56 p.m. They were gone by the time police arrived.

On Saturday, Aug. 10:

- A person in the 2000 block of 4th Street accidentally called 911 at 10:41 a.m. while trying to retrieve voicemail.

- Harassment on Facebook was reported at 10:47 a.m. in the 500 block of 17th Avenue. A man complained another man was making threats against him via Facebook, such as "I'm a member of the Bloods and we're going to take you out." Police advised him to unfriend the harasser.

- A grandmother called police at 11:30 a.m. and again at 12:08 p.m. to report an ongoing dispute with her grandson. The first call was about an argument over housecleaning and involved allegations of name-calling. The second call was for a dispute over a phone. The issue was resolved when the grandson went elsewhere.

- Children playing with a cellphone in the 700 block of 17th Street accidentally called 911 at 11:30 a.m.



New Glarus Police

NEW GLARUS - Police responded at 12:25 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, to a report of a dog that had been left for an hour in a parked vehicle on 5th Avenue at 1st Street. While police were checking on the dog, the owner came to the vehicle.

- Criminal damage to a vehicle was reported in the 300 block of Elmer Road at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6.

- What sounded like gunshots being fired and a vehicle squealing away was reported in the area of Argue Road and Cardinal Crest Lane at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6. New Glarus police assisted Green County deputies with investigating the report.

- A gas drive-off was reported at 12:37 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the Ampride Co-op, 1401 Wisconsin 69. The offender is described as a male driving a red Ford Windstar minivan and wearing a dark-colored baseball cap, a white-and-blue checkered button-up shirt, khaki shorts and flip flops.

- A suspicious noise that sounded like firecrackers was reported in the 300 block of Heidi Court at 10:26 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7. Police checked the area, located no one and heard no suspicious sounds.

- A stray gray cat with a purple collar was found on 2nd Street by the Ott House and taken into custody at 10:10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9. The Green County Humane Society took the cat to the shelter in Monroe, where it can be claimed.

- Police and New Glarus Area EMS were called to Culver's at 1:35 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, for a report of a male with unknown medical issues. He was found to be highly intoxicated and taken into protective custody. He was cited for an unspecified offense and taken to a detox facility in Madison.



Green County Sheriff

MONROE - Adam Michael Brann, 34, New Glarus, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of battery, criminal damage to property and a domestic abuse-related count of disorderly conduct after deputies responded to a disturbance at his home in the 500 block of 14th Avenue in New Glarus at 5:25 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. Not guilty pleas were entered in the case Monday, Aug. 12, in Green County Circuit Court. His signature bond is set at $1,500 with the conditions that he have no contact with the residence or alleged victim.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - Lindsey E. Lee, 32, Shullsburg, was arrested on a Lafayette County warrant after a deputy responded at 4:59 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, to Estey Street in Shullsburg to assist a motorist with unlocking a vehicle. Lee posted bond and was released.

- Jessica D. Cobb, 35, Argyle, was arrested on a first-offense charge of driving while intoxicated on Mill Street in Argyle at 10:47 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10. She was released pending court.

- Ramiro Rendon, 23, Darlington, was arrested on a charge of driving without a valid license at 2:01 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, on Wisconsin 126 in Elk Grove Township. He was released pending court.

- Gerard A. McKibben, 24, Argyle, was arrested on charges of bail jumping, driving while intoxicated and driving with a revoked license after deputies, Argyle firefighters and Argyle Ambulance responded to a rollover accident on Wis. 78 in Argyle Township at 8:42 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. McKibben was southbound when he lost control on a curve and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to overturn. He and his passenger, Christen Young, 22, Argyle, were taken to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. McKibben was then jailed.

- Lizabeth Pacheco-Orozco, 34, Belmont, was cited for driving without a valid license on North Mound Avenue in Belmont at 12:20 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9.

- Johnny S. Shabanni, 31, Darlington, was cited for speeding on Wis. 11 in Gratiot Township at 6:40 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9.

- Tyler J. Peterson, 17, South Wayne, was cited for an ATV violation on Wyota Street in South Wayne at 8:17 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9.

- Christopher J. Helfvogt, 30, Elizabeth, Ill., was cited for a seatbelt violation on Wis. 81 in Lamont Township at 12:08 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10.

- Courtney D. Gilbertson, 19, Argyle, was cited for transporting alcohol as an underager at 6:49 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, following a traffic stop on Wis. 81 in Argyle Township.

- Paul R. Drye, 25, South Wayne, was cited for driving without vehicle insurance at 11:38 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, on Division Street in South Wayne.

- Israel Rios, 20, Darlington, was cited for speeding and driving with a suspended license after a deputy investigated a complaint of an erratic driver on Wis. 81 in Seymour Township at 6:03 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11.

- Trespassing was reported on County U in Seymour Township at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9.

- A theft was reported on County G in Belmont Township at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9.

- Criminal damage to property was reported on Tornow Road in Wayne Township at 9:28 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10.

- A deputy responded to Aetna Road in Shullsburg Township at 3:04 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, for a report of a person being bitten by a dog.
