Mildred V. Rote, age 94 of Monroe, died Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Mildred was born July 27, 1914 in Cadiz Township, Green County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Charles and Jennie (Wolf) Priewe.
She married Wilson Rote on December 1, 1938 in Dubuque, Iowa.
Mildred and Wilson farmed in Clarno Township for 35 years and she also worked at Color Putty of Monroe for several years. They moved into Monroe in 1974.
She was a lifelong member of Stavers United Methodist Church in Clarno Township where she was active in many social and drama activities.
She is survived by a son, Romayn (Nancy) Rote of Madison; a daughter, Regina (Wendell) Matzke of Oregon, WI; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by her parents; her husband,Wilson, on December 19, 1996; two sisters, Mae Behring and Nellie Hurless; and four brothers, Frank, George, Stanley, and Joseph Priewe (in infancy).
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, with Rev. David Busker officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, with a luncheon to follow at Stavers United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
