Mary Ellen Stadelman

Mary Ellen Stadelman, age 76, passed away on September 30, 2009 at the Provena St. Joseph Center in Freeport, IL. She was born March 25, 1933 in Monroe, the daughter of Josef and Anna Roesli Stadelman. She attended St. Clara Academy at Sinsinawa and graduated from South Wayne High School in 1951. She enrolled at St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Freeport and upon graduation earned her R.N.

She was employed in Madison and Milwaukee, WI before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. After training at Harlingen A.F.B. in Texas she received her commission as an officer in the air force. She served at air force bases in Japan, Germany and Newfoundland in addition to bases in the U.S. After 20 years service, she retired with the rank of Major.

She lived in Fort Worth, Texas for many years until returning to make her home in Freeport. She had resided at Oakley Courts in recent years.

She is survived by one sister, Erma Toelke, of Lena, IL; a brother, Ervin (Jeanne) Stadelman of Brodhead, WI; nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister born in 1929 who did not survive.

A funeral mass will be said at St. Victors Catholic Church on Friday, October 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Michael E. Klarer celebrant. Burial in Calvary Cemetery in Monroe, WI.
