MADISON - Marianne Elizabeth Hefty, 84, of Madison passed away January 29, 2011 at home after a long illness. She was born December 8, 1926 in Monroe, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Roy and Pearl (Neuenschwander) Wenger. She was the oldest of 4 siblings. On June 15, 1945, she married Lloyd M.(Matt) Hefty and spent 48 wonderful years together before her husband's death in 1994. Marianne graduated from Monroe High School and began working in accounting for retail stores such as Woolworths and Kresges. She spent most of her professional career at Madison Gas Electric where she retired at the age of 76. She was an active member of Memorial United Church of Christ of Fitchburg and a member of the Elks and the Shriners. Marianne is survived by her daughters, Jill Kreisler and Susan Midthun; and her son, Matthew; grandchildren, Terrie Ann Jones and her husband Dan, Scott Kreisler, Michael King and Becky King, Brian Hefty and his wife Sara, Adam and Eric Hefty; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Amanda Jones; sisters, Sally Disrud and Alice Jahn; and sister-in-law, Jane Wenger. She was preceded in death by her brother, R. John (Sonny) Wenger; and son-in-law, Terry Midthun. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 4 until 7 p.m. at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. A Funeral Service for Marianne will be held on Friday, February 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at MEMORIAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 5705 W. Lacy Road, Fitchburg, WI 53711 with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to Memorial United Church of Christ of Fitchburg; the Shriners Hospital for Children, c/o Zor Shriners, 575 Zor Shrine Place, Madison, WI 53719; or the HospiceCare Foundation, Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711. The family would like to thank every one that helped with the care of Marianne during the end of her life, especially Pastor Phil, Mary, the parish nurse, all the caring people of HospiceCare and Donna, a great friend and neighbor.
