WINSLOW - Lawrence F. Bartelt, 87, formerly of Winslow, IL and Monroe, WI, passed away on October 1, 2008 at the Collinwood Elder Care center in Orfordville, WI. He was born on March 11, 1921 in Oneco Township, Stephenson County, IL. Lawrence was the son of Albert and Nellie (Moser) Bartelt. He farmed all of his life and rented a farm near Orangeville, IL. In 1953 he moved to Winslow, IL and remained there until 2007 when he and his wife moved to Monroe, WI. He was a member of the Winslow-McConnell United Methodist Church and the Orangeville Masonic Lodge.

Surviving is his wife, Vernita of Orfordville, WI; a son, Larry Bartelt of Fox Lake, WI; a brother, Lloyd (Lillian) Bartelt of Winslow, IL; 2 granddaughters, Nicole Smith of Appleton, WI and Carrie Bartelt of Rockford, IL. Lawrence has many nieces and nephews who also survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Ralph, Raymond, Charles, Harold, Arthur, Melvin, Elmer and a sister, Helen.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 6, 2008 at the United Methodist Church in McConnell, IL. Visitation will be held on the same day from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Pastor Doug Carroll will officiate the service. Burial will be held at Rock Lily Cemetery in Winslow, IL.
