Jill M. Ward Chaney, age 38 of Decatur, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois with her family by her side. Jill was born on February 25, 1976 in Darlington, Wisconsin to Judy Edwards and Max Ward. Jill attended Darlington schools until transferring to Janesville, Wisconsin when she was 14 years old. She graduated from Parker High School in 1994. Jill had a laugh that was contagious and a smile that could light up a room. Her daughter's: Mia and Olivia were the light of her life. They were always on her mind and forever in her heart.
Jill is survived by her children; her siblings: June (Tim) Brennan of Monroe, Kathy (Chris) Jackson of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Louise (Dan) McGranahan of Darlington, Larry (Shelby) Ward of Juda, Tom (Judy) Ward of Beloit, Lorraine (Harlan) Elzen of Darlington, Joanne (Steve) McQuaid of Darlington, Irma (Gary) Slawson of Janesville, Rita (Hal) Davidson of Janesville and Karl (Dianne) of Milton. She is further survived by her Aunt Mary and Uncle Bob Brennan of Emmetsburg, Iowa; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents Toot's and Lucky Luchsinger and Thomas and Clara Ward.
A celebration of Jill's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Immanuel United Church of Christ 339 E. Louisa St. Darlington, Wisconsin 53530. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund in Jill's memory has been established for her girls. Memorials may be directed to: In Memory of Jill c/o Iowa Trust and Savings Bank P.O. Box 159 Emmetsburg, Iowa 50536. Sunset Funeral Home, Champaign, Illinois assisted the family.
Jill's family would like to give special thanks to Dr. White and Dr. Hill of the CCU Carle Tower 7 team, along with the incredible nurses who felt like part of the family when we left. Also, a very special thank you to Nikki and Jill for dropping everything when called upon to sit with her so that we could rest.
