Jerome T. 'Jerry' Howe

Jerome T. "Jerry" Howe, age 71 of Dodgeville, WI, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on November 19, 1937 to William R. and Marion V. (Carey) Howe in Darlington, WI. Jerry was a graduate of Darlington High School. He lived in Darlington until entering into the Army in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1958. Jerry returned to Darlington and began work with Kelly Springfield in Freeport, IL. He then went to work for Dick's Supermarket in Darlington where he became a meat cutter. Jerry stayed there for thirty-nine years. He was united in marriage to Janet J. Rule on June 17, 1989 in rural Linden, WI. In 2001 he went to Pick 'N Save in Monroe where he worked until his retirement in 2007.

Jerry is survived by his wife: Janet at home; his four children: Kim Raisbeck of Warren, IL, Candi (Dick) Schreck of Scales Mound, IL, and Carmen (Joe) Corley and Carla (Jim) Jacobson, both of Darlington; three step-children: Michael Rule, of Linden, WI, John (Tonya) Rule of St. Clair, MN, and Jaimie (Jason Walder) Rule of Colorado Springs, CO; twelve grandchildren; his brother: Bill (SuzAnne) Howe of Dodgeville, WI; and his sisters: Barbara (Mike) Dinges of rural Argyle, WI, Connie (Frank) Erickson of Darlington, and Donna (Arleigh) Bondele of Gratiot, WI. He was preceded in death by his father on March 6, 1991; his mother on September 10, 2008; and two brothers-in-law: Larry Hendrickson and Richard Severtson.

Jerry was a charter member of Beowulf Motorcycle Club. He was a past State Champion of Wisconsin Outdoor Archery Championship Freestyle Division. Jerry enjoyed dancing, watching NASCAR, collecting Harley memorabilia, and riding his Harley. He loved spending time and camping with his family. Jerry will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Darlington United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Hakes officiating. Burial will be at Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington. A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2009 from 4 until 8 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com .
