James (Jimmy) J. Knox

James (Jimmy) J. Knox, age 49, of Monroe died on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at his home. He was born on July 17, 1962 in Woodstock, IL, the son of Robert W. and Norma (Hiller) Knox. He attended Crystal Lake High School. His family moved to Monroe to continue dairy farming in 1985. James and Shirley Steffens were married on September 17, 1987. Jim was a dairy farmer until 2000 when the family farm was sold. He opened "Jimmy's" restaurant in New Glarus until 2003 and then began working for the Maple Leaf Cheese Factory in Twin Grove. He enjoyed supporting his favorite Chicago sports teams, Cubs, Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks. He was very proud, loving and devoted dad to his three children.

Surviving are his children, William R. (Megan Wilson) Knox of Milwaukee, Jordan J. Knox of Monroe, Kaytlyn M. Knox of Monroe; mother, Norma Knox of Monroe; siblings, Mike Knox of Fort Atkinson, Judy (Kenny) Stoerp of Huntley, IL, Janet Weidner of Lake Barrington, IL, Ted Knox of Monroe, Joe Knox of McHenry, IL, Tim (Cheryl) Knox of Monroe, Mary (Alan) Hafferkamp of Rockton, IL, Rob (Kelly) Knox of Monroe, Anne (Chris) Adrian of Rolling Meadows, IL; former spouse, Shirley Knox; also many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents and father, Robert.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Victor Catholic Church with Fr. Steve Knox as Celebrant. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Dr., Monroe.

A memorial fund has been established in the memory of Jimmy.
