LENA- Helen I. Daws, 91, passed away at her home on May 28, 2010. She was born on February 18, 1919 in Freeport, IL to John Thaddeus and Irma Clara (Miller) Stouffer. She married James Allen "Boots" Daws on July 20, 1941 at the Lena United Methodist Church. She graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. in 1941 where she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. Helen then taught English at Freeport Junior High School from 1962-1982. She was a lifelong member of Lena United Methodist Church. Helen was also a lifetime member of the National Education Association, and was a Charter Member of the Preceptor Delta MU Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She belonged to the Stephenson County Retired Teachers Association, Lena Women's Club, and the Lena Historical Society. She was a loving and gracious Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother who loved life and only saw the good in others.

Survived by: 6 children: Gary (Pam) Daws of Dixon, IL, Stuart (Donna) Daws of Winchester, IL, Nancy (Joseph) Daws Hodorowski of Rockford, IL, Suzanne Daws of Lena, Bruce (Betty) Daws of Lena, Denise (Richard) Bonjour of Monroe, WI.

13 grandchildren: Kevin (Debbie) Daws, Tracey (Douglas) Crews, Trent Daws, Justin (Jamie) Daws, Andrea (Jacob) Brandon, Dawn Hodorowski, Trinity (Cathy) Daws, Regan Daws, Burton, Annette, Alex, Anita, and Simon Bonjour.

10 great grandchildren: Connor and Dylan Daws, Taylor and Morgan Crews, , Ashton Baughn, Marissa Daws, Conner Brandon, Jacob, Amelia and Olivia Bonjour. 1 Sister: Lavonne Jones of Lena, IL and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by: her parents, husband Allen on August 4, 1991, one son Douglas and one sister Dorothy Shaw.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Lena United Methodist Church in Lena.

Visitation will be from 4:00 till 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at the Leamon Funeral Home in Lena and from 10:00 AM Wednesday until time of service.

Officiating will be Pastor Ben Rocke.

Burial will be in the Lena Burial Park.

A memorial has been established in her name.
