ARYGLE - Hazel B. Gilbertson, age 87 of Argyle, WI passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at her home. She was born June 21, 1921 in Green County, WI.
Hazel was united in marriage to Howard Gilbertson on Dec. 21, 1939 in Dubuque, IA. She lived and farmed with her husband in Wiota Township and worked as a spot welder at Atwood's Manufacturing Company in Stockton, Ill. from 1952 to 1964 and then retired into Argyle in 1971. Hazel and Howard served as foster parents for many years.
Hazel is survived by her husband Howard at home, their children: Nancy Jiles, Monroe; Burnell (Carol) Gilbertson, Blanchardville; Art Gilbertson, rural Mineral Point; Margaret ( Frank) Haas, Prairie du Chien; and Alberta Cottington, Gratiot; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Hazel was preceded in death by her five sisters: Alta Gerber, Grace Huber, Cleo Marti, Myrl Lehr, Charlene Cline and her four brothers: Bobby and Wilbert Trotter and Delbert and Glen in infancy.
Hazel was a member of Wiota Lutheran Church and its Women of the E.L.C.A. and past Sunday School Teacher.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2008 at Wiota Lutheran Church with Reverend Sara Gillespie officiating. Burial will be at East Wiota Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle. For those who prefer, a memorial fund has been established in Hazel's name.
