Gloria R. (Holton) Amacher, of Monroe, died on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital, due to complications from cancer. Gloria was born on April 1, 1940 in Monroe, the daughter of Harry and Esther (Soddy) Holton. Gloria's graduating class was the first to graduate from the current Monroe High School building. In 1964, Gloria graduated from the accredited School of Beauty Culture in Madison. Gloria worked at the Monroe Beauty Salon for Margaret Sonderegger, as well as working for Oaktron/Mitek Industries. After retiring from Mitek, Gloria worked for Kleenmark for approximately 5 years. Gloria was an avid reader, with her favorite author being James Patterson. She enjoyed crocheting, especially holiday figurines. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Gloria married Fredrick "Fritz" Amacher in Dubuque, IA.

Gloria is survived by her daughter, Michelle Meier of Monroe; son, Michael Amacher of Monticello; two grandchildren, Laura Meier, who will graduate from NIU in the fall of 2011 and Dustin Meier of Monroe; two brothers, Wayne (Sue) Holton of Rockford, IL, Warren (Judy) Holton of Freeport, IL; two sisters, Glenda Beckwith of Orfordville and Sharon (Rick) Wilson of Lena, IL. She is predeceased by her former husband and best friend Fredrick Amacher, January 28, 2010; her parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Frank in infancy; granddaughter, Brandi Marie Meier.

At Gloria's request there will be no visitation or service at this time.

The Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home is serving the family.
