Gertrude M. Pepper age 88 of Monroe, died at her home on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Gertrude was born April 21, 1925 in Clarno Township, Green County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Henry and Marie (Schwarzenberger) Vetterli. Gertrude owned a beauty shop in Chicago for several years before returning to Monroe. She was employed at Microswitch in Freeport for many years until her retirement. Gertrude married Leon O. Pepper on August 13, 1977 in Monroe. He preceded her in death on September 25, 2007. Gertrude has resided at Twining Valley Retirement Community the past few years. She enjoyed collecting railroad memorabilia, riding the Amtrak, and making macramé.

Gertrude is survived by two brothers, Paul (Marie) Vetterli of New Glarus, and Roy (Betty) Vetterli of Monroe; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a brother, Henry Vetterli.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
