Erna F. (Rufener) Maske

Erna F. (Rufener) Maske, age 92 of Monroe, died Sunday, April 22, 2018 at the Monroe Clinic Hospice Home. Erna was born on November 29, 1925 in Monroe, the daughter of Jacob and Elise (Janzi) Rufener. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1943 and married Lee Maske on December 4, 1943 in Milton, WI. Erna and Lee settled in Green County, farming in the Albany and Clarno areas for many years. She was employed as a CNA at St. Clare Hospital for 28 years until retiring. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Monroe. Erna loved spending time with her family, bird watching especially listening to the cardinals, and always looked forward to Saturday morning breakfasts with her siblings and extended family.

She is survived by her four children, Robert (Janet) Maske of Monroe, Stephen Maske and special friend, Nancy Wills of Austin, TX, Kurt (Cathy) Maske of Oshkosh, Ann (David) Mahoney of Elmhurst, IL; eight grandchildren, Rachel Maske, Joshua (Emily) Maske, Jacob Maske, Jamie (Ben) Ruh, Mark (Julie) Maske, Christopher Maske, Cassie (DJ) Healy, and Bailey Mahoney; four great grandchildren, Peyton Maske, Allison Dayment-Maske, Greta Maske, and Amy Ruh; a sister, Gertrude Voegeli; and three brothers, Arnold Rufener, Mike Rufener, and Walter (Sandy) Rufener. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee, in 1967; a granddaughter, Rebecca Maske; a sister, Alice Camenzind; and four brothers, Jacob, Armin, Irwin, and Ernest Rufener.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at St. John's United Church of Christ, Monroe, with Reverend Todd Hackman officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, on Friday, April 27, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Erna's name to St. John's United Church of Christ or the Monroe Clinic Hospice Home. Memories may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net.
