WATERTOWN - Ellen P. Huber, age 88, passed away on Friday November 2, 2012 at Rainbow Hospice Center in Johnson Creek with family by her side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Henry Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10:30 AM with Monsignor Daniel Ganshert celebrating. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Monday from 6 PM to 8 PM at Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home and Cremation Service and on Tuesday after 9 AM at the church. A Rosary will be recited on Monday at 8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Lung Association, American Cancer Society, St. Henry's Foundation or Rainbow Hospice, would be appreciated. Ellen P. Brooks was born on January 5, 1924 in Green Bay, weighing in at 2 pounds, the daughter of Harry and Lorraine (Jackson) Brooks. She was a graduate of P. J. Jacobs High School in Stevens Point. Ellen received a nursing degree from Marquette School of Nursing in 1947 and a master's degree in public health from the University of Minnesota.
On May 9, 1953 she married Leslie Huber at St. Victor's Catholic Church in Monroe, WI.
Ellen served as Health Nurse at Monroe High School and Wausau Public Schools. After moving to Watertown, she was employed by Watertown Memorial Hospital and Bethesda Lutheran Home. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, Catholic Women's Club, Christians Mothers and the Marquette Alumni. Ellen enjoyed walking, swimming, playing Bridge, time at the cottage in Price County, spending two months each winter in Arizona and Nevada. But most of all, as an only child, she loved the experience of raising six children and spoiling her grandchildren.
Ellen is survived by her husband Leslie, their children Lynn (Douglas Simmons) Huber of Port Orange, FL; Gregory Huber of Wausau; Lori (Bruce) Wagner of Watertown; Gary Huber of Columbus; Grant (Jolene) Huber of Madison and Lisa (William Klish) Huber of Stevens Point, eight grandchildren P. J. Wagner, Jamie Pless, Kevin Wagner, Belinda Huber, Megan Huber, Chloe Huber, Greta Huber, Grace Huber and six great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, aunts and uncles.
