MONTICELLO - Edna M. Wirth age 88 of Monticello, died Monday, August 2, 2010 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Monroe. Edna was born November 11, 1921 in Barron County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Carl and Emma (Haefliger) Streit. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1940. Edna married John W. Wirth on November 12, 1945 in Monroe. They farmed in Washington Township from 1945 until moving into Monticello in 1983.

She was a longtime member of Washington Reformation United Church of Christ and the Esther Circle. She also was a Monticello Lioness Club member, was an excellent cook, and enjoyed gardening, and canning.

Edna is survived by six children, John C. Wirth of Stoughton, David (Diane) Wirth of Monticello, Steve (Sue) Wirth of Verona, Susan (Brent) Stauffer, Jim Wirth, and Duane (Jori) Wirth, all of Monticello; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, on February 14, 2006; a son, Ronald in 1970; granddaughter, Destiny Wirth in 1993; a brother, Frank Streit; and a sister, Frieda Bandi.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010, at 12:00 p.m. at the Washington Reformation Church with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation will at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be given in Edna's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
