The court Tuesday entered a plea of not guilty and scheduled a June 3 district attorney conference for Edward T. Smith Jr., 25, Monroe, who stood mute to charges related to a dispute.
Court records allege he hit and shoved a woman, struggled with officers and had drug paraphernalia in his possession May 25 at a Monroe residence. He was on bond for disorderly conduct at the time of the incident.
He is charged with bail jumping and disorderly conduct, both class A misdemeanors, disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, an unclassified misdemeanor. He faces more than 27 months in jail and more than $30,000 in fines, if convicted.
He remains free on a $1,500 signature bond.
