GREEN COUNTY
FELONIES
Gregory S. Grinder, 38, New Glarus, was sentenced Thursday to 90 days in jail and three years of probation, to be served concurrently, after he pleaded no contest to felony theft and being a felon in possession of a firearm. A felony burglary charge and two misdemeanor theft charges against Grinder were dismissed. Court documents indicate he will have work-release privileges during his jail sentence and must pay restitution, supervision fees and court costs. Grinder owes the court $176, according to police records. He is ordered to have no contact with the victims and complete treatment and counseling as his probation officer deems appropriate. The gun charge stemmed from Grinder's possessing a .22-caliber bolt-action rifle between Jan. 21 and Feb. 20. As a convicted felon, Grinder is barred from possessing firearms. Court records indicate he previously pleaded no contest to three felonies in Wisconsin: possessing marijuana and bail jumping in 2002, and fifth- or sixth-offense operating while intoxicated in 2010.
Paul A. Patterson, 45, Freeport, was sentenced Friday to 30 days in jail after he pleaded no contest to leaving the state to avoid apprehension, a felony. Court records indicate the jail sentence will be consecutive to the time he is currently serving for two child support commitments. Patterson did not return to the Green County jail after an appointment June 4. He was arrested in Clinton, Iowa, the following day, said Lt. Kari Phillips of the Green County Sheriff's Department.
