MONROE - Charlyne L. Monson, age 80, of Monroe, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Monroe Clinic Hospital, after a brief illness. She was born on July 19, 1936, in Madison, the daughter of Arthur and Emma (Ulsrud) Thompson. Charlyne married Richard Monson on May 4, 1963, in Madison. She enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, auctions, appraisals, buying and selling antiques, spending time with family and friends and telling family stories. Charlyne is survived by sons, Tim Monson (Jill Richter) and Scott Monson; four grandchildren, Kyle, Shae, Bree and Cate Monson; sister, Vicki (Richard) Cardarella; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; and sisters, Shirley Williams and Kay Thompkins. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2017. Burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, and also at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
