WARREN - Carol C. Klenke, age 70, of Warren, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 peacefully at home with her family at her side. She was born at home in rural Freeport on February 16, 1939. She was the daughter of Ralph and Alice (Boekemeir) Rudy. Carol graduated from Freeport High School and was married on June 6, 1957 to Richard H. Wehrenberg. She married Glen Klenke on July 19, 1980; he preceded her in death on December 4, 1984.
Carol worked at Crum & Forster, Micro Switch and Janlin Plastics. She was owner operator of Wehrenberg Trucking, hauling milk with her husband, Richard, to Pure Milk Association in Pearl City and Deans at Darlington, WI for many years. She then owned and operated the Frontier Inn in Warren for 20 plus years. In her retirement she enjoyed taking the grandchildren and other children back and forth to school. Carol enjoyed taking care of and providing transportation for anyone in need. She was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan, and liked watching NASCAR and playing cards several times a week. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved attending their school activities.
She is survived by three daughters: Vickie (Denny) Dawson of Warren, IL, Julie (Fred) Reddies of Freeport, IL and Crystal (Jeff) Bartell of Warren, IL; three sons: Richard (Jackie) Wehrenberg of Orangeville, IL, David (Toni) Wehrenberg of Warren, IL and Mark (Janet) Wehrenberg of Lena, IL; grandchildren: Celeste (Dawson) Kurth, Corky Dawson, Dylan Dawson, Travis "TJ" Johnson, Tasha Johnson, Lindsey Bartell, Bradley Bartell, Derek Wehrenberg, Rebecca Wehrenberg, Wesley Castle, Madison Wehrenberg, Brook Wehrenberg, Brent Wehrenberg; four great-grandchildren: Theron, Taylor, Logan and Hayden; stepchildren: Deb (Gary) Block and Doreen (Brad) Crapp; step-grandchildren: Nick (Jen) Block, Brittany Block; and special friend, Alvin Durword, who was by her side for 17 years; one sister: Karen (Richard) Mack; one brother, Lyle (Sharon) Rudy; and a sister-in-law, Connie Rudy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glen; brother, Lynn Rudy; two grandchildren, Nichole and Jeremiah; and a stepson, Kevin Klenke.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday June 28, 2009 at the Warren United Methodist Church in Warren, IL.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday June 27, 2009 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL.
Officiating will be Rev. Yoshiya Takahashi.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Warren, IL.
