BRODHEAD - Betty L. Thurow, age 84, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2008, at Harbor House Elderly Care of Monroe. She was born on June 1, 1924 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Frank and Ruth (Gunther) Stigman. She married Wilmer E. Thurow.
Betty and her husband farmed in Illinois before moving to Decatur-Sylvester Township, where they continued farming. They are also well known for the Footville Auction House.
Betty is survived by her husband, Bill, Brodhead; three daughters, Janice (Wayne) Fruit, Kirkland, IL, Donna (Kamiar) Seyedkademi, Rohnert Park, CA, Julie (Daniel) Golz, Monroe; and a son, Raymond (Chris) Thurow, Monroe; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lawrence "Bud" Stigman, and Wendell "Windy" Stigman.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 6, 2008, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI, with Rev. Matt Spoonhour officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.
