Mrs. Anna I. Schneider, age 95 of Monroe, died Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born May 6, 1914 on a farm in Iowa County, WI, near Blanchardville, the daughter of Joseph F. and Tilda (Peterson) Johnson. She was a graduate of Blanchardville High School and the University of WI, Platteville.
She married Walter E. Schneider on March 23, 1940 in Dubuque, Iowa. Anna was a teacher for 31 1/2 years, having taught in rural schools for many years, seventh grade at Albany, WI, and seventh grade English at Monroe Junior High. She was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church, Monroe Educational Association, W.E.A., Omicron Chapter of ADK, and the Green County Retired Educators.
She was preceded in death by her husband on August 26, 1996; her parents; two brothers, Alton Vivian and Lloyd F. Johnson, both of Blanchardville; and two sisters, Ruth Johnson of Blanchardville and Jeanette Smith of Oregon, WI.
She is survived by two sons, Walter L. Schneider of Cuba City/Monroe, and Jerry E. Schneider of Fredericksburg, VA; a sister, Minerva Ott of New Glarus; and several nieces.
Private graveside services will be held in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
