DARLINGTON - The Lafayette County Land Conservation Department announced the cost sharing sign-up for 2013 will be Monday, Jan. 14 through Friday, Feb. 15.

Approval for cost sharing will be based on conservation need and availability of funding. If the property on which the conservation practice will be applied is owned by more than one person, then both parties will need to sign the cost share application forms.

Conservation practices that may be cost shared at 70 percent include: terraces, diversions, spring development, wetland enhancement, animal waste management, manure storage structures, grassed waterways, streambank stabilization and grade stabilization structures.

Contour strips will be cost shared at $15 per acre, and well abandonment will be a maximum of $750 cost share or one well per landowner per year. Federal/municipal partnering is available for a maximum of $500, and includes dry hydrants.
