MONROE - Noah Zimmerman and Olivia O'Dea are now royalty.

Zimmerman, the son of Travis and Kayla Zimmerman, Monticello, and O'Dea, daughter of Jerry and Claire O'Dea, Monroe, were named Cheese Days prince and princess Saturday at Monroe Middle School.

The children were somewhat bashful when they took the microphone to thank the judges.

They were two of the 21 children who competed for this year's title. All wore authentic Swiss costumes.

Every two years a new prince and princess are selected based on their appearance, costumes, personality and speaking talents. Every child received prizes for entering the competition.

Being named Cheese Days prince and princess comes with the honor of representing with pride the biennial event which draws crowds some people say approach 100,000.

Zimmerman and O'Dea will be busy in the upcoming months helping to promote Cheese Days. They will take part in the children's parade Sept. 19 and also in the Cheese Festival Parade Sept. 21.

Cheese Days is Sept. 19-21. More information about Cheese Days is available at www.cheesedays.com or by calling 325-7771.
