Board approves contract extension for District Administrator Waski

MONROE - The Monroe Board of Education approved a contract extension through the 2019-20 school year for Monroe District Administrator Rick Waski at its meeting April 9.

His annual salary amount or wage percentage increase wasn't determined at the meeting but it is scheduled to be announced at a school board meeting tonight according to the district's agenda.

Bob Erb, former Monroe school board president, said the contract extension is not only a recommendation from him but shows the support the board has for Waski.

In other action Monday, the school board:

• Approved all Monroe Board of Education scholarships. The scholarship night is set for 7 p.m. May 9 in the high school's Performing Arts Center.

• Approved a CESA 2 contract for the 2018-19 school year. The contract was renewed for a total of $13,222,75. The district approved the contract to continue to offer virtual courses through CESA's JEDI virtual school program.

• Approved the resignation of Jay Moelling, a technical education teacher at Monroe High School.

• Approved the resignation of Sharon Pickett, a Parkside Elementary School food service employee.

• Approved the retirement of Densie Plantenberg, an accounting secretary at the high school.
