MONROE - After breaking the record for high temperature Sunday, snowy weather is about to return to Monroe.
Sunday's high was 59, shattering the previous high temperature of 51 set in 2004. It was also 64 degrees warmer than it was a year ago, when the temperature of -5 set the record for lowest recorded temperature for the date. Both Milwaukee and Madison also set new record-highs, according to the National Weather Service, hitting 61 and 58 degrees, respectively.
But don't get too used to the spring-like weather: Temperatures began dropping Sunday night in advance of a weather shift that's expected to bring snow to the area Monday night into Tuesday. The NWS forecast calls for 1 to 5 inches. The high temperature will remain around the freezing mark for much of the week until it hits 40 on Saturday.
