MONROE - A Brodhead man and an Argyle woman were both charged Sept. 13 with matching charges of possessing methamphetamine precursors and waste, keeping a drug trafficking place, bail jumping and possessing drug paraphernalia.
The bail jumping and meth-related possession charges are each Class H felonies. The charge of maintaining a drug trafficking place is a Class I felony, while the possession of drug paraphernalia charge is an unclassified misdemeanor charge.
Kassandra Ann Paulson, 21, Argyle, and Christopher David Winchell, 22, Brodhead, were both charged after an incident on Sept. 9, when investigators found a makeshift meth lab in a residence in the 100 block of North Lafayette Street in Argyle.
According to a police report, investigators found sufficient paraphernalia for 10 single-pot meth labs at the site, along with a "sludge" that was identified as a by-product of the methamphetamine manufacturing process. In addition, a still-smouldering pile of burnt debris tested positive for the presence of meth.
Both signed $7,500 signature bonds on Sept. 13 and Paulson pleaded not guilty to all charges on Sept. 29. Winchell has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Oct. 25, while Paulson has a status conference scheduled for Nov. 15.
The maximum possible sentence for their charges is 10.5 years in prison.
