MONROE TOWNSHIP - A 15-year-old girl critically injured in a ride mower accident just north of Monroe last week died in a Madison hospital late Wednesday afternoon, July 17, reports Green County Sheriff Jeff Skatrud.
Kylie L. Kundert was found trapped and unresponsive underneath the mower at about 7:45 p.m. Thursday, July 11. She was airlifted by Medflight helicopter from Monroe Clinic to the University of Wisconsin Hospital and died there six days later.
Kundert was mowing her lawn at N3526 Aebly Road in Monroe Township when the accident happened.
No one witnessed the accident.
Skatrud said it appears the ride mower got caught on a swing set in the yard, and Kundert became trapped underneath the tractor when she got off to look at it and try to free it.
"That's speculative," he said. "I don't think it's something that will ever be resolved conclusively. It's one of those ones that we won't be able to explain fully."
Kundert is the daughter of Brian Kundert and the late Beth Hartwig. She would have been a sophomore this fall at Monroe High School.
A memorial visitation to celebrate her life will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 22, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 1329 31th Ave.
