Elected Experience: None
Why should voters elect you?
As a nurse for the past 20 years, my adult life has been dedicated to caring for others. I spent most of my career working in intensive care units, giving me the skills necessary to be a calm, decisive leader in times of crises. I pride myself on being able to talk to anyone, but I really excel at speaking respectfully with people that don’t agree with me. Democracy is a team sport and I have the proven ability to work collaboratively and constructively with people of all backgrounds to achieve a goal, even in tense situations. Whether the goal is treating a cardiac event or passing legislation to protect us from data centers, I’ll be the clear leader that can get the job done.
What is the top issue in your district? How would you address it?
Property taxes are number one concern I hear from my neighbors. From both Republicans and Democrats in my district, I am hearing the overall theme of things not being affordable anymore. The price of everything from gas to groceries to utility bills is continuing to go up, and wages are not. People are feeling squeezed, and looking for real relief. The first thing I would do to address this is fully fund our public schools and responsibly end the voucher system. If the schools have what they need, they won’t need to rely on this toxic cycle of property tax referendums. The state needs to use tax payer dollars to fund schools in the budget, fully, no exceptions.
How should Wisconsin government operate differently than in the past?
We need to to get money out of politics. Hawaii just passed legislation to end Citizens United in their state and Wisconsin can do it too. We need to end politicians being able to trade individual stocks while sitting on committees that regulate the same industries they own. You cannot trust your officials to make decisions in the best interest of the people, if there are massive profits to be made if you vote a certain way. We also need to bring political civility back again. Love your neighbor.
What is your favorite fun Wisconsin history fact?
