MONROE – The Monroe Public Library building closed Nov. 13 due to increased coronavirus activity in the community, and will remain closed indefinitely.

Library staff will be providing services to the public four days a week. Staffed hours are Monday and Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Wednesday and Thursday, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Reference Service is available by phone and chat, for asking questions and requesting books and other materials.

Community members will be able to pick up books and other materials, including their holds, via contactless Curbside Service. Document Services will also be available curbside. Library staff can assist with copies, faxes, scanning, and printing. All Curbside services are available by appointment only.

The bookdrop will be open for the public to return items at their convenience. Any item that fits in the slot may be returned in the bookdrop. Overdue fines will be waived for the duration of the closure. As always, the library’s wi-fi network is on for people to connect to in the front yard or parking lot.

As most of the library’s programs are now virtual, they will all continue as scheduled. Materials for programs, such as Storytime craft kits, are available for Curbside pickup.
