MONROE - "Random Acts of Thankfulness" baskets, made by St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, will be handed out on Sunday, Sept. 1 and Monday, Sept. 2 to Green County jailers who have direct contact with prisoners.

A county jailer's responsibility is to watch over individuals who have been arrested and incarcerated, church organizers said. In addition to providing inmate surveillance, jailers may also transport inmates to court, perform general duties around the facility, monitor jail visitors and maintain prisoner paperwork.

St. Andrew's implemented other "random acts of thankfulness" events over the past two years, including thank-you baskets to veterans and to foster families in Green County. Gift baskets will include items emphasizing ways to "take care of yourself."
