MONROE — On May 17, SSM Health Monroe Hospital celebrated sixteen eighth grade students for completing their ten-week Club Scrub program.
Club Scrub is an after-school program designed to spark interest in health-related careers through hand-on activities. Throughout the ten weeks, students spoke with healthcare providers and visited a variety of departments. The departments that hosted Club Scrub sessions were Rehab Services, Family Medicine Residency, Operating Room, Orthopedics, Cath Lab, Emergency Department and Pharmacy.
“We were so excited to resume our Club Scrub program this year”, shared Chris Hendrickson, SSM Health Monroe Hospital Infection Preventionist and Club Scrub Coordinator. “It was really rewarding to see these students experience different departments and learn about all the opportunities that healthcare has to offer.”
This year’s Club Scrub participants came from a variety of school districts including New Glarus, Brodhead, Monroe, Lena-Winslow, Dakota, Shirland, Evansville, Albany and Juda.
