MONTICELLO — On the morning of Oct. 23, all Monticello Public Library staff and the Monticello Elementary School Librarian joined together with two staff members at Brodhead Memorial Public Library to finish five hours of Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid Training.
Thanks to Green County funding, Monticello Public Library staff were able to complete three hours of training online, followed up by two hours of on-site training held at the Brodhead Memorial Public Library on Wednesday, Oct. 23. Eight members of Green County are now certified for two years.
“I am proud of the time our staff spent to train and most importantly the care they showed in learning to help patrons in emergencies,” director Brenda Massei said. “It is reassuring that we are prepared to work together creating a safer space in our community.”
Staff were trained to handle all sorts of emergencies for children and adults, including choking, CPR, life-threatening bleeding, as well as identify patrons who need help with heat stroke, low blood sugar, heart conditions, shock, and more.
