MONROE - The 2014 Green County Land Judging Contest was held July 31 at the Evan and Vicki Lemenager farm. Those participating were from: Cashton, Cuba City, Lancaster, Monroe, Monticello, Pecatonica, River Ridge, and Shullsburg. A total of 56 students participated in the contest.
Top individual was Jada Hicks, Shullsburg, with Sarah Brewer, River Ridge, in second; Angela Klinkner, Cashton, in third; Josh Korn, Cashton, in fourth; and Mike Adams, Lancaster, in fifth. The highest placing local contestant was Mitch Milner, Monroe, in seventh.
In team results, Cashton placed first, River Ridge second, Lancaster third, Shullsburg fourth, Monroe fifth, and Monticello sixth.
The Newell B. Smith award went to Jenna Mosley of York 4-H. The award is for the judging of residential, transportation, and recreational land use.
