MONROE — Questions, answers and information about growing hemp locally will be shared at the next Green County Master Gardeners meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22 at the Dale Grossen farm.

Dale and Gail Grossen, located at N3820 Ladwig Rd., Monroe, will be guides through this hemp learning opportunity.

Experienced hemp growers, Dale and Karen will welcome the group to take a look at a production field of female plants (grown from clones off a mother plant) that will be harvested for CBD oil. Dale will talk us through the license process, what is needed for planting hemp, harvesting and drying the plants. Plenty of weed pulling opportunities abound throughout the growing of this crop. Those who attend should park alongside the driveway as the hemp field is along the drive as well. Bag chairs might be useful. Additional note: in case of inclement weather Dale will be at the Green County Justice Center for his talking points.

The Green County Master Gardeners Association meets on the fourth Thursday of the month from February through October. Association officers for 2019 will include Tanna McKeon, president; Tammy Schulte, vice president; Linda Boll, secretary; and Lynn Lokken as treasurer. Anyone interested in horticulture and gardening is welcome to join the association and doesn’t have to be a Master Gardener to be a member.
