LENA - To help the St. Baldrick's Foundation win the fight against childhood cancer, Wyatt Hermann (also known as WEKZ DJ Jim Douglas) will be shaving heads at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 15 at Mulligan's Bar & Grille in Lena.

The event is dedicated to further St. Baldrick's mission of "raising awareness and funds to cure kids' cancer by supporting childhood cancer research and fellowships." Cancer is the number one disease killer of U.S. children.

Participants can register online (www.stbaldricks.org) before the event, though walk-ins are also welcomed without online registration.

Funds are raised as participants gather sponsors. In return, the participants have their heads shaved. For the donors' convenience, donations are accepted at the event or online.

"In the first two years of this event, we have raised nearly $5,000. This year, we have set an aggressive goal of $5,000 for this event alone," said Hermann, who has already shaved 200 heads for St. Baldrick's over the years. "We need to get 'shavees' to the Web site and register, so their co-workers, friends and family can make online donations."

Hermann said he is also looking for door prizes from businesses or individuals to help make this year's event the most successful yet. All donations are tax deductible.

People who are interested in getting involved or learning more about this event can contact Hermann by calling (888) 369-4748.
