ALBANY - Albany High School will celebrate Homecoming week beginning Oct. 1.
On Friday, Oct. 1, students are asked to dress up for a "Time Machine Day." They can either dress as a baby or as a senior citizen. The senior class will take on the freshmen class in volleyball at lunch.
Monday, Oct. 4, students are asked to dress up for "Superstar Day." They can dress as a star or a celebrity. The junior class will take on the sophomore class in volleyball at lunch.
On Tuesday, Oct. 5, students are asked to dress in all black clothing. At lunch, the losing team from Friday's volleyball game will take on the losing team from Monday's volleyball game.
On Wednesday, Oct. 6, students are asked to dress as an alien, an astronaut, or anything else related to an "Out of this World" theme. Students will also vote for Homecoming king and queen. The winners of Friday's volleyball game will take on the winners of Monday's volleyball game.
On Thursday, Oct. 7, high school students are asked to wear their Homecoming 2010 T-shirts. High school students will also visit the American Players Theater.
Friday's events include a "Comet Spirit Day" dress-up theme; an assembly from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m.; the class volleyball winner versus the teachers volleyball game; skits and introduction of fall sports and the Homecoming court and the king and queen crowning. The winner of the spirit award will be announced.
The parade leaves the gym parking lot at 2:30 p.m. and continues to the Legion Park.
The Homecoming dance is from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday. The grand march is at 9:30 p.m. Cost for high school students is $9 and $5 for spectators.
