Health care foundation awards scholarships to 5 area students

The Memorial Healthcare Foundation Grants and Career Development Committee has selected five recipients for health care scholarships in 2015. These recipients exemplified educational and community requirements. The following received $1,000 awards on July 21.

Nathan Fleming, Darlington, is currently studying nursing at the Viterbo University in La Crosse. Fleming is the son of Steve and Kris Fleming, Darlington. He is a 2013 graduate of Darlington High School. Fleming is working at Towne Park and Lafayette Manor as a CNA.

Brianna Reichling, Darlington, is currently studying human development and family studies at University of Wisconsin-Madison. Reichling is the daughter of Jim and Mary Ann Reichling, Darlington. She is a 2012 graduate of Darlington High School. Reichling works as a student medical assistant at University Health Services, a clinic that services UW-Madison students and faculty. Reichling will graduate from UW-Madison in spring 2016 and will be applying to physician assistant programs. Her career goal is to work as a PA in family medicine.

Paige Heim, Shullsburg, is currently studying nursing at UW-Madison. Heim is the daughter of Pat and Jill Heim, Shullsburg. She is a 2011 graduate of Shullsburg High School. Heim is employed at UW Hospital and Clinics in Madison as a certified nursing assistant.

Molly Blackbourn, Shullsburg, is currently studying nursing at Clarke University in Dubuque and will graduate in May 2016 with her BSN. Blackbourn is the daughter of Terry and Coleen Blackbourn, Shullsburg. She is a 2012 graduate of Shullsburg High School. Blackbourn works at Dubuque Internal Medicine-Tri State Dialysis.

Katharine Place, South Wayne, is currently a second-year Doctor of Physical Therapy student at UW-Madison and will graduate in May 2017. Place is the daughter of Patrick Place and Kelly Place, South Wayne. She is a 2010 graduate of Black Hawk High School and a 2014 graduate of UW-Madison with a bachelor's degree in psychology. Place is currently working as a pro bono student clinic volunteer.

The Memorial Healthcare Foundation's mission is to support and promote Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County through the endowment of new and existing services, scholarships and capital improvements.
