Lena teen hit with multiple sex assault charges

LENA, Ill. — Following execution of a search warrant and an ongoing investigation, Stephenson County deputies arrested a Lena teen on multiple felonies related to sex offenses.

“On May 2, 2024, at approximately 1:45 p.m., Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies located Zaithadius Allen, 19, in the area of Division St. and Lena St. in Lena and he was taken into custody without incident on three outstanding felony arrest warrants,” said a press release from Stephenson County Sheriff Steve Stovall. “Simultaneously, Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division personnel executed a search warrant at a residence in the 11,000 block of W. Galena Rd. in Lena as part of the investigations that resulted in the issuance of the arrest warrants for Zaithadius Allen.”

According to the sheriff’s office, the investigations that resulted in Allen’s arrest were initiated on Jan. 5. One of the warrants alleges that in January, Allen committed an act of criminal sexual assault that involved a female victim who was 17. Another warrant alleges that in November of 2022, Allen committed an act of criminal sexual assault and an act of criminal sexual abuse—both involving a female victim who was 16 at the time.  The third warrant, officials said, alleges that between January 1, 2023, and January 31, 2024, Allen committed three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving a female victim who was between the ages of 13 and 17 when the incidents occurred. 

Allen, meanwhile, remains is currently being held at the Stephenson County Jail “without pretrial release until further order of the Court,” according to the statement. Allen was scheduled for Tuesday a pre-trial detention hearing, according to court records,

Not guilty pleas to the crimes have been entered on Allen’s behalf, court records indicate. Criminal sexual assault is a Class 1 Felony in Illinois, punishable by a maximum prison sentence of up to 15 years.
