Daniel C. Bernet, age 83, of Monroe, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, at the SSM Hospice Home. Danny was born on January 24, 1941, at the Marty Cheese Factory near New Glarus. He was the youngest of eight children to Albert and Anna (Zwahlen) Bernet. His folks made cheese their entire lives, after immigrating here from Switzerland. Dan graduated in 1960 and married Betty Ayen in November of that year, in Argyle. They resided in Blanchardville, where Dan operated the Texaco Station and painted vehicles, too. Daughter Lori Lynn was born in 1962, and later had two sons, Randy and Aaron. Danny and Betty also farmed for 20 years. Betty passed away in 2010. When Dan retired, he moved to Argyle, where he met Jenny Bahler. They were married in 2012 and moved to Monroe, where she passed away in 2017. Lori Lynn also passed away, unexpectedly, in 2020. He is survived by sons Aaron and friend Anne Michener, or “Honey,” as Dan called his favorite cook, son Randy, sister Elsbeth Hohn, sister-in-law Tessie Bernet, many nieces and nephews, son-in-law David Hackett, grandchildren, Mike Teal, and his fur baby, Jackson. A special thanks to Todd Hanson, who honored his last request for one final chance to go deer hunting, plus Brenda Salzwedel and the Hospice Home Team for their wonderful care of Dan.
