Photo supplied Cows like this one will be on display in front of Wiota businesses before being in the Wiota Fourth of July parade on July 6.
WIOTA - Businesses in Wiota are decorating cows and displaying them in front of their businesses until Sunday, July 6, when they will be in the parade.

After the cows have been in the parade, they'll be on display at the park, where six canisters will be set out so people are able to vote on their favorite by putting some money in the can of their favorite.

The cow canister that ends up with the most money will be the winner.

If the business place wants to buy 'their cow back,' they can. The rest of them will be sold to the public.

All the proceeds will benefit the auxiliary, which in turn plans to use the money for a community project.

Some past projects include buying the flowers for a planter in the Wiota park every year and a community Halloween party every year that everyone can attend and is free to everyone.

Around 130 people attend, and Wiota's population is less than 80 people.

This year funds will be used to purchase or replace Christmas lights for the street poles, a project that was started more than 10 years ago.
