Cheese Days

MONROE — One of the biggest challenges during Cheese Days may be finding a parking space. Here is some information that may help.

FREE SPACES COURTESY DRIVE THRU & DROP OFF ZONE

These spaces are ideal for dropping off passengers with strollers, walkers, wheelchairs, or people who are unable to walk a distance. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, this zone is at the southeast corner of Wisconsin Bank and Trust, at the intersection of 18th Avenue and 10th Street. (Use 1717 10th Street, Monroe for GPS.) Signage and arrows will show drivers where to pull in and drop off passengers. After finding a parking spot, a good place for drivers to meet up with passengers is at the Family Farm Adventure Tent, which is just a half block from drop off.

On Sunday, the Courtesy Drop Off Zone is alongside the Cheese Days Maker’s Market (in the municipal surface lot — former parking ramp) by the intersection of 15th Avenue and 11th Street. This is across from Grace Lutheran Church. After finding a parking spot, a good place to meet up with passengers is by the Information Trailer near Baumgartner’s Cheese Store on the west side of the Square.

FREE PARK & RIDE SHUTTLE

Leave your car at the UPG Electrical Park and Ride parking lot, located at 350 21st Street. Buses make continuous loops, arriving approximately every 15-20 minutes. Accessible buses (wheelchairs can roll on) are in the rotation. Downtown drop off is across from Grace Lutheran Church, adjacent to Cheese Days Maker’s Market. The walk from there to the downtown Square is one block.

Free Park and Ride Shuttle Hours:

●  Friday 5-10 p.m.

●  Saturday 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Includes a stop at the National Historic Cheesemaking Center until 3 p.m. Additional buses will run from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. to accommodate dancers arriving for the World’s Biggest Polka event on Saturday.

●  Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.  Includes a stop at the National Historic Cheesemaking Center until 3 p.m. Buses do not run as often during the parade.

ACCESSIBLE PARKING

The entire municipal lot north of Stop-N-Go and Green County Historical Society Museum is designated as disabled parking all weekend. Accessible port-a-potties are available there. Use 1607 9th Street, Monroe for GPS, but note, lot entrances are on 17th Avenue (east side) and 8th Street (north side).
