Academic Honor: Golz

PLATTEVILLE - Valerie Golz, daughter of Dan and Jeanne Golz, Albany, received the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Foundation of Excellence in Leadership award. This award is given to freshmen, sophomore or junior students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities, continuously above and beyond the classroom, while maintaining a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5.

Golz is a biology and criminal justice major with an emphasis in forensics. She is a member of the Kappa Alpha Sigma sorority, Women's Greek Council, Greeks Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol, and Order of Omega. Golz also participates in volunteer activities for organizations such as Family Advocates, Road Crew, Locks for Love, Adopt-a-Highway, bingo with the elderly, and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville blood drive.

Golz is planning to graduate from UW-Platteville in May of 2009.
