To the Editor:
In these challenging times it is very important to choose candidates for the school board that can work together to make good use of their time, knowledge and skills so parents can rest assured their choices for the school board will provide the best education that will prepare students for work here or in the global world.
My three children received an excellent education here in Monroe that made them knowledgeable to go to another country for a year to study and travel there as well, go to Florida to become a working artist and the third one to have a successful job in the business world. Their choices were to go out into the global world. And their success happened because of the education they received here in Monroe.
As a reporter I went to school board meetings every time they met. Any parent who wished to speak there would be called on. It is the same today.
It never bothered me to have them tout that the union complimented them. They do the job for free and a compliment from the other side feels good. It makes life nicer and kinder. Sometimes they had to deal with some issue pertaining to the unions. It is all part of the job. Anyone who does not want to do that should not run for school board.
School board members must be ready to learn the many aspects of the job. Fortunately there are three good candidates for the school board that I support. All will be champions for your children and for the success of all students. They will be fiscally responsible with your hard-earned taxes, and they will listen to what parents wish to say. The candidates for the school board that I support are Rich Deprez, President of the school board who has shown that he is a leader, Dylan McGuire who has been a school board member for six years and Eric Eckdahl who is new to the election for school board. He and his wife have four children and he is a dentist with Carter and Eckdahl Family Dentistry. I believe they are the best candidates. They know voters are parents who wish the best education for their children and I believe their best is what these candidates will continue to produce.
