Come join me, Elizabeth McGuire, your 2019 Green County fairest of the fair to celebrate 165 years of tradition, entertainment and great food July 17-21 in Monroe.
There is something for everyone to enjoy at the fair. This year we will be flashing back in time. On Wednesday, July 17, help me welcome the CC Bull Riding and Barrel Racing at 7 p.m. in the grandstands. You can also get into fair free by showing a military ID on this day.
Thursday we have one of my personal favorites, the Badger State Truck and Tractor Pull starting at 6:30 p.m. On Friday join us for first responder appreciation day and special needs day. There is free admission for police officers, firefighters and EMT workers. We also have free carnival rides and parking for all special needs persons from 10 a.m. to noon.
Bring the kids from 3 to 6 p.m. to see Wisconsin’s spudmobile. The spudmobile is a larger than life potato that drives! It teaches children all about potatoes with fun interactive games. At 7 p.m. we will have the local Green County Truck and Tractor Pull. On Saturday kids under 11 get in free until 1:30 p.m. That day I am looking forward to the pedal pull, the draft horse pulls starting at 1 p.m., Chris Kroeze from The Voice at 8 p.m., and ending the night with a fireworks show.
Make sure to keep your eyes open for the Wisconsin fairest of the fair on Saturday. Sunday help me round out the end of the fair week with the cheese and dairy youth auction, master showmanship competition and the demolition derby!
This year is going to be a year for the record books. All grandstand events are free with paid admission. The cost to get in to the fair is $10 a day for adults and $5 for children under 12 or get a season pass for $35. Remember there is more to the fair then just the entertainment and great food. While at the fair you are supporting all the youth exhibitors. These 4-H and FFA students put countless hours into getting their animals or projects ready for the fair.
